Interpreting
Simultaneous Interpreting
Speeches are delivered simultaneously, „almost in real time“, into the respective language. Due to the high concentration that is required for this interpreting mode, two interpreters work together in a soundproof interpreting booth. This mode is especially suitable for big conferences with two or more languages as no time delay is caused such as with consecutive interpreting. The necessary conference technology, if not present at the venue, is to be ordered separately.
Whispered Interpreting
Whispered interpreting, also called chuchotage, is a form of simultaneous interpreting and does not require any technical equipment. The interpreter is positioned behind the listeners and whispers the speech simultaneously into the listener’s ear (max. 2 people). This mode of interpreting is suitable if one or two people of a group require interpretation.
Media Interpreting
Media interpreting is the simultaneous interpretation broadcasted live on television or on the radio.
Consecutive Interpreting
In consecutive interpreting the interpretation is renderd into the target language after a certain passage (approx. 3-5 minutes) without any technical equipment. For this purpose, the interpreter takes detailed notes during the speech using a special notation technique. The interpreting thus lasts as long as the original speech, effectively doubling the length of the proceedings and causing a time delay.
This mode of interpreting is suitable for short and/or ceremonial events such as presentations, dinner, welcome or inaugural speeches.
Liaison Interpreting
The interpreted passages are notably shorter and are rendered into the respective target language after a few sentences using a special notation technique. This mode of interpreting is generally used with foreign business partners, at court and at authorities.
